As a Patron of Purgatory, hereafter referred to as the 'User', you are entitled to use the content of this site for your personal, non-commercial use. You may download a single copy of any portion of the content for your personal, non-commercial use, provided that you do not remove any copyright or other notice contained in such content. No other use is permitted. For example, you may not incorporate the content in any database, compilation, archive, or cache.

By registering as a User, you may enter the names of your Beloveds, without restriction. You agree not to cull or enter Beloveds from existing obituary lists. You agree to sponsor at least one soul within the month of registration. [Incomplete registrations are deleted at month's end.] You agree to pray for those souls whom you have entered or adopted.

By entering material on, or communicating with, this site, including, for example, submission of an Epitaph, PrayerBook or Prayer Request entry, or Memoriam, you represent and warrant that you own or otherwise control all of the rights to the content that you provide, that the content is accurate, and that it does not violate these Conditions of Use, and that it will not cause injury to any person or entity.

You authorize purgatory.ca  to forward, upon your request and on your behalf, a 'Spiritual Bouquet' email to the Sponsor of a Beloved whom you have added a PrayerBook entry. We warrant that your email address will not be disclosed. Furthermore, you authorize purgatory.ca  to forward any 'Spiritual Bouquet' emails other Users have commissioned us to send to you.

Communication from purgatory.ca, via email, to your registered email address will occur as a result of the following events initiated by you:

• Confirmation of your registration as a Patron of Purgatory.
• Another User has 'adopted' a Beloved whom you have sponsored.
• Another User authorized us to forward a 'Spiritual Bouquet' to you.
• Confirmation for any Memoriam you have placed.

You authorize purgatory.ca  to send notices to your registered email address, from time to time, concerning important changes to the site.

You grant purgatory.ca a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive right and license to use, copy, modify, display, archive, store, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works from all information you provide to us, in any form, media, software, technology of any kind now existing or developed in the future.

We reserve the right to remove any Epitaph, PrayerBook, Prayer Request, Memoriam, Sponsored Beloved, or Adopted Beloved entry, or any other content that fails to comply with purgatory.ca standards as set out in this section:

1. This site, purgatory.ca, is in faithful obedience to our Holy Father, and to the Teachings of the Holy Roman Catholic Church, expressed by the Magisterium of the Church. In the case of anti-Catholic, anti-Christian, or polemical language, epithets or slurs, inappropriate or offensive content, such content will be removed by purgatory.ca without notice or recourse.


2. In the case of obscene, profane, vulgar, abusive or hateful language, epithets or slurs, text or illustrations in poor taste, inflammatory attacks of a personal, racial, or religious nature, or expressions of bigotry, racism, discrimination, or hate, or offensive content, such content will be removed by purgatory.ca without notice or recourse.


3. Users who attempt to deface, modify, alter, corrupt, or otherwise interfere with this site will forfeit immediately all User rights, without notice or recourse. Such Users will be permanently banned from purgatory.ca, without notice or recourse. No remuneration of any kind will be issued, without prejudice for local, provincial, or federal laws.



4. Use of HTML, special characters (including all uppercase symbols), programming code, e-mail addresses, or urls is not permitted.
   
   
   
   In Sponsor/Beloved names and cities: numbers and all punctuation marks (except apostrophe and hyphen) are not allowed.
   
   In Epitaph, Memoriam, and PrayerBook entries: periods, commas, colons, semi-colons, apostrophes, hyphens, exclamation, question, and quotation marks, parentheses, and a plus sign are allowed. All other symbols and punctuation marks (including special 'Windows' characters) are not allowed.
   
   
   Users who attempt to insert any of the above will forfeit immediately all User rights. Such Users will be banned permanently from purgatory.ca, without notice or recourse.



5. Material that is false, misleading, disparaging, threatening, defamatory, deceptive, fraudulent, inaccurate, unfair, violates the privacy rights of any third party, contains unsubstantiated claims, gross exaggeration, is unreasonably harmful or offensive to any individual or community, contains any actionable statement, or tends to mislead or reflect unfairly on any other person, business, or entity, is prohibited. Such material will be removed by purgatory.ca, without notice or recourse. All User rights terminate upon such removal.


6. Any material that unfairly interferes with any third party's uninterrupted use and enjoyment of this site, will be removed by purgatory.ca, without recourse or notice.


7. The User shall not advertise, promote, nor offer to trade any goods or services. Such material shall be removed by purgatory.ca immediately, and terminates this User agreement without further notice or recourse.


8. Any material that includes images, photos, or other content that constitutes, promotes, or encourages illegal acts, violation of any right of any individual or entity, violation of any local, provincial, state, national or international law, rule, guideline, or regulation, or otherwise creates liability is prohibited. Such material shall be removed by purgatory.ca immediately, and terminates this User agreement without further notice or recourse.


9. In the case of Prayer Requests or entries in the PrayerBook, the User shall not enter, verbatim, any third-party prayer requests or intentions that have been forwarded to them. Such material shall be removed by purgatory.ca immediately, and terminates this User agreement without further notice or recourse. However, the User may paraphrase such content, provided that the original author's rights and privacy are not infringed in any way.


10. In the case of an Epitaph, Prayer Requests, or entries in the PrayerBook, the User shall not exceed the maximum number of words/characters permitted.


11. The User shall not use the Epitaph, PrayerBook, or Prayer Request areas for obituary or Memoriam content, nor for listing their Beloveds. Such material shall be removed by purgatory.ca immediately, and terminates this User agreement without further notice or recourse.

In no event shall purgatory.ca be liable for any direct, indirect, special, punitive, incidental, exemplary or consequential damages, or any damages whatsoever, even if purgatory.ca has been previously advised of the possibility of such damages, whether in an action under contract, negligence, or any other theory, arising out of or in connection with the use, inability to use, or performance of the information, services, and materials available from this site. These limitations shall apply notwithstanding to any failure of essential purpose of any limited remedy. Because some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, or the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, the above limitations may not apply to all visitors.

These Conditions of Use will be governed by and construed in accordance with the Code of Canon Law of the Roman Catholic Church in the the Province of Ontario, Canada without regard to its conflicts of law provisions. You hereby agree that any cause of action you may have with respect to purgatory.ca must be filed in a federal or provincial court located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, within two months of the time in which the events giving rise to such claim began, or you agree to waive such claim.
